According to the recent reports of the Economic Times, OnePlus is considering turning India into 'Global Manufacturing Hub'. Vikas Agarwal, who is the General Manager in the OnePlus India has revealed this information. He said that OnePlus firm is already under the process which will supply their OnePlus devices manufactured in India globally in order to involve their OnePlus mobile phone brand in the 'Make in India'.
We all know that Indian Goverment is promoting 'Make in India' in order to manufacture consumer electonics in India. As a result more electronics firms will come and they will invest more resources in the South Asian Country. Furthermore, Mr. Agarwal said that OnePlus talks are ongoing to install their firm in Indian market and to create its products which will get sold in the other countries.
In the present date OnePlus already assesmbling its device parts in India to avoid the heavy duty fees. But if they manufacture all the parts in India it can help additionally to lower its costs as well as to increase their profit margin. Imported smartphones are subjected to the 20% duty fee in India. Indian goverment has increased 5% duty fee. So, that can affect on their profit margin. Mr. Agarwal said that to manufacture in India can help them lot. First, it can even reduce the production cost and second, additionally it can increase their profit. Looking at the record-breaking growth of the OnePlus in India leading to tens of millions of handsets being sold on quarterly basis.
