Got pumped? Yesterday, YouTube released the dark mode theme in their mobile application. But unfortunately, for now, this feature is only available for the iOS users. YouTube claims that they will soon launch this feature on the Android device too. For the users who do not want to wait to use the dark theme in their Android device application, here is the method to activate the dark mode theme right now! But before we proceed let me thank the XDA Developers to find out this amazing method to get the dark theme in Android device.
So, as I have mentioned in the title, this method requires the rooted device. In some steps, you will need to modify the value in the shared-preference in /data. And to do the same it will ask for the rooted device. So, please proceed only if you have rooted device.
Once you have root access on your Android device, first of all, you have to download one application called “Preferences Manager” on your Android device. Don’t worry you do not have to find it anywhere. I have attached the link below. Click on that to install it on your android device.
[appbox googleplay fr.simon.marquis.preferencesmanager]
#2. Open the app and find the YouTube in the list shown on your device screen.
#3. Now open youtube.xml
#4. Once you are in youtube.xml, to activate the dark mode you will need to search for the “dark”.
#5. Okay, so now you have some values on your device screen. You need to change it. Change both values from false to true.
If you cannot see any values on the screen then don’t worry. You can add them manually. Add this both values mentioned below and change them to true.
#5. Save all these settings.
#6. Go to the device settings app and force stop YouTube application.
That’s it. The all-new dark mode should be now activated on the YouTube application. This new dark mode theme is taking everyone’s attention because it completely changes the user experience. Everyone looks super beautiful in dark grey background and white icons.
