Instagram Will Let You Download All of Your Content After Criticism




We learned so much from the Cambridge Analytica scandal happened recently. Because of the unauthorized access to the Facebook database, they got their hands over 50 million users data contains every small and sensitive detail. Data privacy is a huge concern nowadays when it comes to any social media platform. Now, Instagram is in the pipeline because we all know it is one of the Facebook properties!

Instagram has lack of one feature and that is data portability which is already present in the Facebook platform and after all that, recently TechCrunch has reported. In answer one of the Instagram Spokesperson has said, “We are building a new data portability tool. You’ll soon be able to download a copy of what you’ve shared on Instagram, including your photos, videos, and messages.”

The statement confirms that Instagram is now testing their Data Portability button that will allow the user to port their data in their mobile phone including messages, photos, videos, and stories, whatever they have shared on this platform with their followers. According to the report of TechCrunch, the user will get their hands on this tool after the May 25th. Meanwhile, Instagram is testing this feature to make it even better. On the other hand, this new portability feature will help Instagram to stand out with the new European GDPR privacy law under which every social media platforms have to provide the data portability feature to their user.

The information is still limited. By adding a further information TechCrunch reporter says, Instagram has not made it clear yet whether the user will only be able to download their shared photos, videos, and messages or also will be able to download their followers’ likes, comments, captions, stories, etc. Another thing is that the photos you download will be downloaded in the compressed size or full size.
